Biography[]
Prior to the events of the trilogy, McCullough was a member of the American military, with his son also being a part of said military. During the Simian Flu epidemic, McCullough took control of a subsection of the American military. Dreyfus, the leader of a human colony in San Francisco, sent out a distress message to Alpha-Omega, causing Alpha-Omega to go to war with the Apes.
One day, McCullough sent out a recon unit involving his son, and was told that his son had become mute, as did the man who cared for him, and conversed with a medic who came to the conclusion that the Simian Flu had mutated, rendering humans mute and unintelligent. Thus McCullough become determined to destroy the Simian Flu by any means necessary, including killing his own son.
10 months later, McCullough infiltrated the Ape Colony's headquarters, and killed what he assumed to be Caesar, only to discover as he was leaving that he had actually killed Caesar's wife and son. A rageful Caesar attacks him, but he manages to escape nevertheless.
Caesar later encounters the Colonel at Alpha-Omega's headquarters, where the entire Ape Colony has been captured. The Colonel explains what happened, and says he's glad he killed Caesar's wife and son. He eventually comes across a doll in Caesar's cell which infects him with the Simian Flu. When Caesar goes to confront him, the Colonel has become mute, and encourages Caesar to shoot. When Caesar refuses, the Colonel opts to do it himself.
