Circus Baby (or just Baby for short, formerly known as Elizabeth Afton) is the tertiary antagonist of the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise, serving as the main antagonist of the 2016 indie horror game Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location, the secondary antagonist of its 2017 sequel Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator, and a minor antagonist in FNAF AR: Special Delivery. Baby was the primary mascot of Circus Baby's Pizza World & Circus Baby's Entertainment and Rental. The soul of Michael Afton's sister, Elizabeth, resides in Circus Baby, and is revealed to possess her in Pizzeria Simulator. She is one of the five animatronics created by William Afton, programmed to kill children through subtle ways.
While giving William Afton's daughter, Elizabeth, ice cream at a party, Baby's programming forces her to kill Elizabeth and pulls the girl into herself. However, nobody notices the incident because of the children's loud cheering. Elizabeth’s death was also caused by the fact that she went near her, despite Mr Afton’s constant warnings not to.
As a result, William sends his son, Michael, to take a job as a technician at Circus Baby's Entertainment and Rental and free his sister.
When Baby sees Michael during the blackout on the second night, she gains his trust by being non-aggressive towards him and guiding him throughout the facility, giving him the advice to avoid the animatronics.
On the third night, she recounts to Michael the story of the day she killed Elizabeth. She later saves Michael after he is knocked unconscious by Funtime Foxy. She hides him inside a decommissioned spring lock suit in the Scooping Room and tells him about the Scooper before instructing him on keeping the suit's spring locks wound up.
Real Ending[]
On the fifth night, all of the animatronics, including Baby, have been to the Scooping Room and are scooped of all their insides, which form together as the animatronic, Ennard. Baby, who is ennard's primary consciousness, uses her voice to lure Michael, under the impression of still being inside her suit, to the Scooping Room, where she reveals her true nature and scoops Michael. Michael does not flee because he knows that himself being scooped is the only way that Elizabeth can leave the facility.
Ennard later leaves Michael's skin after it decomposes to a purple color and frightens away all people. Elizabeth, as Baby, reanimates Michael's corpse before leaving, allowing him to live on, due to the remnant (a metaphysical substance William created to trap spirits in the animatronics) left inside him.

Fake Ending[]
WARNING: THIS ENDING IS CONFIRMED NON-CANON.
In the Fake Ending, if Michael follows Baby's instructions and has finished Baby's minigame, he will enter the Private Room, which is heavily implied to be his father's office, similar to the office in Freddy Fazbear's Pizza from the first game. The player must then survive the night by preventing Ennard from getting into the room. When the night finally ends, Baby, as Ennard, vows it will find a way to escape, which it apparently does and follows Michael home.
During the night in the secret room, it is further implied that Elizabeth's soul has active influence or control on Baby/Ennard.
Source Code Teaser[]
In the lead up to FNaF 6/FFPS the websites ScottGames and FNaFWorld hosted a conversation. It eventually transpired that it was an argument within the hive mind of Ennard between Baby and the others. The others had grown tired of Baby as a leader, and eventually ejecting her from the rest of it's body. Baby insisted that they "would be lost without [her]" and she "could put [herself] back together". This would come in the form of Scrap Baby.
Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator[]
Baby, now confirmed to be possessed by Elizabeth Afton, returns as the main antagonist of Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator. Sometime after rebuilding herself as Scrap Baby, she received a call (which she assumed was her father calling out to her) to join the other animatronics at the player's pizzeria. She makes her first appearance after the pixelated "troll facade" minigame ends, sitting in front of the player. When Cassette Man begins his audio prompt countdown, she shuts the tape off and finishes counting for him, before her eyes shifted to stare at the player.
Baby seen in a hidden death scene
She appears again on Wednesday. Michael salvaged her, seemingly for scrap. If the player chose to discard her, the completion ending on Saturday is prevented, as all the animatronics need to be present in the Pizzeria. Henry played five different audio prompts through the tapes, and Michael had to document Baby's response times. After the fifth audio prompt, the salvage ended and Michael got $2000 for the salvage. Baby mockingly told Michael that he didn't know his employer really was. Unlike the previous game, Baby served as an active threat to Michael. From the Thursday on wards, Baby hunted Michael through the office vents to kill him to get to the children.
On Saturday, Scrap Baby taunted Michael by saying they've been fooled by their employer and that she will finally achieve her purpose of creation. However, Baby was cut off by Henry, who refers to her as Elizabeth, the name of her possessor, and reveals the whole scenario to be a trap. Elizabeth Afton is free from the body, and Baby is destroyed after four decades.
Ultimate Custom Night[]
Scrap Baby returns in the Ultimate Custom Night alongside Circus Baby. She randomly appears inside the office in a slumped position. The protagonist must keep an eye on her while performing their other tasks. If Scrap Baby moves, the protagonist must give her an electric shock to stop her from attacking.
Circus Baby can also be an threat to the protagonist. She will appear at a random time in the Right Hall and the only way to defend against her is to purchase a Circus Baby Plushie from the Prize Corner using Faz-Coins.
As Shadow Bonnie she will randomly appear from time to time. She will cause the lights to go out for a total of 10 seconds making everything dark with the only thing being visible is their face.
Help Wanted[]
Circus Baby features in Help Wanted as a character in the VR game The Freddy Fazbear Virtual Experience. She only appears in the night terrors levels. If she is seen the player must close the closest doors before baby can reach them. The process goes on until 6 AM.
FNaF AR: Special Delivery[]
While attacking, Baby will speak to the player(similar to how Springtrap does) the player has only a split second to look away when she glitches, and the Flashlight is almost useless on finding her. To defeat her, the player must listen for her and watch her movements, and, after she decloaks, use the Shocker on her. It is also possible to obtain a Baby Plush Suit which can be placed on an Endoskeleton. Baby’s counterpart, Scrap Baby, doesn’t appear in the game. She does have plenty of skins however, which all have various themes based on them.
WARNING: As Baby is "dead" (The robot is destroyed and the soul is free) during the events of Help Wanted, this is NOT the real Baby. Like the game implies, FNaF VR is a game made by Fazbear Ent. in the timeline, so this is not the real Circus Baby.Along with fnaf AR
A few years after Baby's death, Fazbear Entertainment made a VR game based on the horrors from decades ago, with the game including Baby. However, this version of Baby is a literal video game character, which doesn't make her possessed by any souls.
Circus Baby reappears at her own level. The player must watch Baby from a closet as she looks around a bedroom presumably trying to find them. If she spots the player, they must close the closet door to stop Baby from attacking. Opening the closet door too early or keeping it shut for too long will result in a game over.
Circus Baby is also a threat during Funtime Foxy's level in Nightmare Mode. She is one of a few animatronics wandering in the darkness and will jump on the player if she gets too close to them.
Personality[]
Baby is devious, yet also very polite and concerned for the well-being of Michael (but this is only she can gain his trust and keep his body alive to combine Ennard with him). She is also continuously depressed about a past event in which she had killed (or assimilated) Elizabeth unintentionally, though this may be Elizabeth herself attempting to conceal the fact that her soul is possessing Baby.
Even after becoming a part of Ennard, Baby insists sadly that she does not want to hurt Michael (most likely due to Elizabeth and Michael being siblings), and that he won't die from the Scooper, and will instead only be in pain briefly, before permanently becoming a part of Ennard (this suggesting that she will remove his organs with the Scooper), and is very desperate to protect herself and her fellow friends. However, this may be simply so Michael will not be against the plan.
Between the fifth and sixth game, Baby seemingly became meaner and more of a control freak, with this going to the point that the Funtimes had to kick her. Even then, Baby thought she is superior to them, saying that they will be "lost" without her, and that she can put herself back together.
However, in the sixth game, after the Funtimes (mainly Funtime Freddy) ejected her from Ennard, Baby is depicted as less sympathetic and inherently malicious, due to Elizabeth's spirit now aspiring to be an insane killer like her father. This is possibly because of Baby’s programming gradually corrupting her soul, before combining as Ennard corrupts her fully. Baby now speaks in a more sinister tone and taunts Michael for not realizing who his employer is.
It's implied that Baby and Ballora are more aware than the other Funtime Animatronics.

Baby is shown to have blue eyes before pulling Elizabeth inside of her. However, her eyes are green in the main game. This hinted at her possessing Baby, as Elizabeth's eyes are also green in the minigame. In Sister Location, it was unclear as to whether Baby was possessed by William's daughter, or acted of her own A.I. In FFPS, the Cassette Man refers to Baby as Elizabeth, confirming that she does indeed possess Baby.
She is very similar and bears a striking resemblance to Harley Quinn.
In Sister Location, she basically plays the role of the Phone Guy.
Despite being the central antagonist of FFPS, her father is the Bigger Bad threat.
Although she doesn't have a jumpscare in the game, she did have one in the trailer. It might have been a scrapped part of the game, or just to trick the audience. The only thing that is close enough to be a jumpscare is when she kills William's daughter in the minigame.
In the sixth game, she is now a proper enemy and can jumpscare you.
In UCN, she finally gets a jumpscare in her "Circus" form.
She is an odd antagonist; in that she continuously helps the player as an ally throughout the game while needing you to survive before turning you into Ennard's new host.
Baby and the other animatronics might have been based on the Tsukumogami from the Japanese folklore.
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
Throughout Sister Location, she manipulates Michael Afton into trusting her by giving him advice, so she could then scoop his innards out and use him as a skinsuit due to mistaking him for William.
What makes this worse is that she is literally using her own brother's body to be scooped and she was fully aware this wouldn't kill him, judging by her line of "you won't die" after she is ejected, and given how Michael has been forced to "live in the shadows" following this and is implied to be seeking death, this means she subjected him to a fate worse than death and essentially ruined his life.
While she did saved Michael on Night 3 from Funtime Foxy and then locking him inside a spring-lock suit so no one can find him, it was mostly out of fake heroism and pragmatism likely to prevent Michael from having his body being brutally massacred by the animatronics so her plan to escape would succeed, not to mention she left him almost defenseless against the Minireenas after Ballora was scooped and that her "saving him" was a kidnapping, while also calling him a "Dummy" for not understanding of how the Scooper room worked.
Its also possible that she had Funtime Foxy knock Michael out to begin with, given how they also plan to escape the place as Ennard, making it clear she really did not save Michael at the end of Night 3.
As seen in Night 5, she had two innocent technicians hung from the stages of Ballora Gallery and the Funtime Auditorium to trick HandUnit into thinking Ballora and Funtime Foxy were on stage.
In the Fake Ending of Sister Location as Ennard, she tried to kill and once again manipulate Michael (who rejected her offer to go to the scooping room) into coming out of the private room by giving him fake remorse that she and the others "didn't wanted to hurt others" or not understanding why people do the things they do, even going as far as to use her human voice as Elizabeth into comforting Michael that she was "still here."
In the Fake Ending after surviving until 6AM, she most likely killed Michael offscreen when she broke into his house as Ennard while he was watching TV.
As seen by a hidden conversation, Baby began to act like a control freak towards the other Funtime animatronics after becoming Ennard, going so far that the three robots decided to get rid of her, with her egotistically believing they will be "lost" without her, her being outnumbered doesn't matter, and that she can just put herself back together (the last of which she proves afterward).
After being ejected from Ennard by the other Funtimes, she proceeds to inhabit a new, far more dangerous body, with it including a massive claw for a hand.
Once Henry Emily successfully tricks her into thinking her father wants her to kill children at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place, she happily accepts the offer and goes to the place.
It's implied that, in the opening cutscene of Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator, she killed Michael's predecessor.
She tries to kill Michael for the second time after reuniting with him.
She, alongside Afton and Funtime Freddy (now known as Molten Freddy), attempt to hide in multiple items that Michael can buy for Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place, which have the potential to cause lawsuits such as assaults.
To make this worse, these lawsuits could lead to the pizzeria going bankrupt or Michael getting blacklisted, which makes her one of the partially reasons for Michael's potential financial issues.
Although Henry manage to set her soul free after she was burned alive by the latter, it's not a redemption as she didn't wanted to change in any way and was forcefully freed from her body.
It's implied she was going to attempt to kill more children across Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place just like her father did years prior.
While William Afton, her father, is clearly much worse then and has multiple heinous acts throughout the series (with Baby only having hers for only two games in-universe), she still manages to stand out due to her lower resources, as well as her unique act of putting her own brother in a fate worse than death and doing the worse she can with her heinousness afterwards.
While she does act affable towards Michael in Sister Location, this is clearly just a facade and only because she mistaken him for their father given how she acts following the game's events.
Even after she found out that it was Michael and not Afton that she scooped, she showed absolutely no remorse for scooping him and putting him in a horrific situation as she only saw him as just a pawn for her own selfish needs and leaves him to rot and decay as a rotten corpse for the rest of his life after ejecting from his body, which clearly shows she has no true care for her own brother.
While she did start off with moral agency issues, being created to murder children, she loses that attribute when she gains full sentience after being possessed by Elizabeth, giving her both human morality and the ability to rebel against her programming. While Henry does claim Baby might have lost parts of her memory, not even remembering her human name, nothing from Baby's behavior implies that, especially since she knows William is her father and how she died.
Although the Bidybabs were made to be her assistants, she has absolutely no care for them given how they never interacted with each other and she simply discarded them after escaping the facility.
As implied by some of the Bidybabs' lines before they leave Circus Gallery, she was likely abusive towards them as they were intimidated by her watching them.
What prevents her from being pure evil?[]
While she moved on from her past and wants to kill children the same way she was killed by the time of Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator, she's still portrayed sympathetically, with Henry pitying her, trying to set her soul free, and thinking only William will go to Hell, which implies he doesn't hold Elizabeth responsible for her actions.
She has genuine loyalty and admiration towards her father William
