~ Cesar's Alternate growing impatient at Mark's attempts to stall his attack.

Cesar's Alternate, also known as the Perpetrator and its fake identity Cesar Torres, is a major antagonist in the analog horror web series The Mandela Catalogue.

As its name implies, it is an Alternate that took over the form of Mark Heathcliff's childhood friend, Cesar Torres, in an effort to cause Mark's suicide through Metaphysical Awareness Disorder. After it succeeds, an "Alternate report" on it is issued by the MCPD, implying that it's still loose and that the Police Department is very aware of that.

He (or at very least his impersonation) is portrayed by Andrew Long.

Biography[]

Original Cesar Torres[]

Not much is known about the original Cesar as it's possibly we never even really meet him as he's already been replaced by time Vol.1 starts. There appears to be 2 Cesars with one being the one we see in Vol.1 and the one we see in Vol.333 as both are visually different and it isn't 100% known which is Cesar Torres and which is "Cesar Torres" but since the Vol.1 Cesar played by Andrew Long is used for the Alternate poster, it's presumed Vol.333 is the alternate and Vol.1 is the real person. In a live stream, Alex Kister stated Cesar was still alive, which means The Alternate would of just been mimicking him vocally, though how truthful this statement may be is unknown.

Luring Mark Heathcliff[]

On September 13th, 1992, Mark Heathcliff would receive a phone call from Cesar's Alternate, who has already impersonated Cesar by this point. The Alternate would give Mark a fake story about his mother going into the ER after an incident, and explains that it needs Mark to turn on the security cameras back at the Torres Residence in an effort to lure him in and follow him back home, not before also giving him the ominous advice to "take a good look of the back hallway".

Impostor among us hahahaha lol so funny

The Alternate revealing it's true nature to the viewer while a female voice screams "No!"

Heathcliff reluctantly agrees and drives to the Torres Residence, where he would turn on the cameras as he was told in a span of 23 seconds. Heathcliff drives back to his home, exceeding the speed limit in county roads, implying that he was very aware of the Alternate's presence, but not its (false) identity.

Mark locks himself inside his own room in a panic, documenting his encounter with the Alternate through his personal camcorder. During this time, Cesar's Alternate would entirely ditch its disguise as Cesar Torres and changes it to an unidentified female one. It would knock on the door for several hours, giving false reassurance to Mark in an effort to make him open the door.

Heathcliff would document this encounter not only in his camcorder, but also on a book of reassurances, where it's shown that he was slowly losing his faith until the point he was revealed an awful truth about his God, where he would completely lose his sanity. Mark would attempt to retaliate using a Desert Eagle, shooting the Alternate through the door. When his efforts to survive proved ineffective, Heathcliff would curse at the Alternate one more time, before killing himself.

The Alternate mocks at Heathcliff's decision to kill himself, exclaiming "uh oh, bad decision, mark!". The Alternate would stare at the camcorder's lens, then turns the camera to Mark's dead body. The caption "nobody came for me, and now I'm free" appears on screen.

Future activities[]

It's unknown what happened to the Alternate after the events of Vol.1, but as shown in Volume 333, an Alternate report was made for Cesar's Alternate, implying that it's on the run and the MCPD is well aware of it.

Cesar's poster in MandelaTECH.com/alternates, and his only appearance in Act 2 so far.

Cesar's Alternate report would later appear in the Bythorne Paranormal Society subpage in the MandelaTECH website as evidence for the existence of Alternates. The poster is blurrier and more distorted than usual for unknown reasons.

Personality[]

Much like its fellow Alternates, Cesar's Alternate was shown to be a cunning and effective manipulator, as well as a remorseless sadist that enjoys the suffering of its victims, as well as mocking their suffering altogether. It appears to be impatient and paranoid while waiting on Mark to kill himself or let it in so it could possibly kill him.

Powers and Abilities[]

Seemingly those of an average Alternate. He appears to have some Immunity or resistance to bullets and the power to drive people to suicide with M.A.D.

Appearance[]

Is that cesar torres

Possibly, The actual Cesar Torres.

Being a Doppelganger of Cesar Torres, it's an imperfect copy with a slightly different appearance while keeping the essence of the person it's copying. Though it's unknown what the Alternate's appearance looked like when it manifested several other voices. "Cesar" and Cesar are seen wearing a suit with a bowtie and Boutonnières in their breast pocket. They are either seen smiling or having a indifferent, possibly upset expression.

The Alternate (while as Cesar) distorts it's Cesar version of itself by Stretching it's head and scrunching up Cesar's head and smiling.

Due to the facial reconstruction seen in Volume 333 being based around imperfect fingerprints left by the Alternate and not by the actual Cesar Torres, it's implied that the face reconstruction is the Alternate's version of Cesar's face, whereas the archive footage used in his Alternate report and Volume 1 appearance is the actual Cesar Torres.

In Vol.1's Remake, Human Cesar appears as he does in the original but very blown out brightness and contrast. During the remake's T.H.I.N.K Principal scene, we see a figure with a tall head with half of it being hidden which is a very frequent trail of Alternates but is most obviously hinting at 333 Cesar with half of him being in shroud. Remake Alt Cesar appears as a tall, likely still suited, and mouthless figure with strange eyes that could be fully black with white pupils though likely he just has the average oversized malformed Alternate Eyes that multiple alternates do and having some sort of light reflection off of them.

Quotes[]

Hey it's Cesar... hope it's not too late.

Trivia[]

  • Cesar's Alternate and the Murray Residence Alternate are often hinted at to be one and the same, which doesn't make chronological sense, given that the Murray Residence Alternate was manifested through the broadcast of the Might of the Subconscious TV show, which happened after Mark's demise.
  • The image of the alternate staring into the camcorder is taken from an infamous police sketch of serial killer Derrick Todd Lee.
  • His facial reconstruction and his Makeship plushie having a small shadow on the right side of his face is a reference to multiple fanart depicting his face as half-transformed, and as such revealing his nature as an Alternate.
  • The voice heard outside of Mark's door telling him he has a present, that he needs to open the door, and asking where he is are voiced by Alex Kister's mother.
