Bonnie the Bunny is the secondary antagonist of the 2014 indie video game Five Nights at Freddy's. He is a purple animatronic rabbit with a red bowtie.
Like his fellow animatronics Freddy Fazbear and Chica the Chicken (and formerly Foxy the Pirate), Bonnie is a friendly child entertainer during the day housed at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, but kills any human he sees during the night - especially Mike Schmidt, the enigmatic protagonist. In reality, he's possessed by the restless soul of a child named Jeremy (or Cassidy in the non-canon novels).
History[]
Note: Given that the Five Nights at Freddy's story is told out of chronological order, the history of Bonnie is presented in the order the events occur to him.
Backstory[]
Like his fellow animatronics Freddy Fazbear and Chica the Chicken Foxy as well as Golden Freddy, Bonnie is a friendly child entertainer during the day housed at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, but kills any human he sees during the night - especially Mike Schmidt, the enigmatic protagonist. In reality, he's possessed by the restless soul of a child named Jeremy (or Cassidy in the non-canon novels).
Spring Bonnie, his yellow/golden counterpart, was the co-star of the original Fredbear's Family Diner, the suit that William Afton used to kill five children with and the one in which he met his first death in, subsequently possessing it similar to his victims. In Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery, he has four skins named Chocolate Bonnie, Easter Bonnie, Black Heart Bonnie, and Melted Chocolate Bonnie.
His Withered counterpart was voiced by Hans Yunda in Ultimate Custom Night and Joe Gaudet in Five Nights at Freddy's VR: Help Wanted, who also voiced Mr. Hippo, Funtime Foxy, and Rockstar Foxy in Ultimate Custom Night.
FNaF 2[]
The company tried to repair Bonnie and the others, fitting them with facial recognition software, but they were deemed ugly, so were left for spare parts in the Parts/Service room. Withered Bonnie was presumably among the animatronics who attacked William when he infiltrated the Pizzeria as a security guard. In the minigame SAVETHEM, Bonnie could be seen in the building.
From Night 2, Withered Bonnie became active, but picked from Night 3. After leaving Parts/Service, he travelled to the Main Hall, before heading to the Office Hallway, staring at the night guard, Jeremy Fitzgerald. After that, he traveled into Party Room 1 to climb into the Left Air Vent to enter the Office. Jeremy fends him off by putting on the Freddy Head the moment he sees Bonnie inside The Office, fooling the facial recognition. As well as this, Jeremy could use the Flashlight while Bonnie was in the hall. After Fritz Smith's shift on Night 7, where the animatronic's AI levels are altered, Bonnie, along with the other original animatronics, is kept, and repaired for the next Pizzeria.
Bonnie also appears in the pre night cutscenes, in his FNaF 1 form, standing the right side from Freddy on the Show Stage. On Night 2, he and Chica look at Freddy, and on Night 3 they are joined by Golden Freddy. On Night 4, Bonnie and Chica are no longer observing Freddy, but the Puppet is.
FNaF 1 []
Bonnie, along with Freddy and Chica, was seen performing on stage at the new Pizzeria. Bonnie's groaning could be heard on Phone Guy's Night 4 phone call, implying he was part of the attack on Phone Guy that killed him.
During Mike Schmidt's shift, Bonnie started at the Show Stage, and was the first to head to the Office. Bonnie can move to any room on the left, aside from Pirate Cove, thus can appear in the Dining Area, Backstage, the West Hall, the Supply Closet, and the West Hall Corner. When looking into the Office, he leans into the left doorway, but Mike managed to shut the door on him, and Bonnie left soon after.
FNaF 3 []
Bonnie only appears in the minigames, set at some point after the Pizzeria has closed. On Night 3, he is lured from the Stage to the Safe Room by Shadow Freddy, and is then dismantled by William. However, on Night 5 the soul inhabiting him blocks the exit with the others to prevent William from escaping. With William's death in the Spring Bonnie suit, he faded away with the others. A child with Bonnie's mask is seen getting freed in Happiest Day. Bonnie's body is burned down later, freeing Jeremy.
Personality[]
During the day, Bonnie appears as a friendly, harmless, joyful, nice, and sympathetic robot, who never harm children and always take care of them, often playing guitar along Freddy and the rest of the gang to distract customers of the restaurant; albeit his appearance is somewhat disturbing, and his behavior rather malevolent upon confronted to adults.
Once he is confronted to the night guard, however, Bonnie turns into a cunning, malicious, merciless, evil-minded, rather impatient murderous stalker, obsessed by the idea of stuffing the night guard into a spare animatronic suit for some dark reasons (presumably as revenge of the spirit within him).
Bonnie is by far the most active, being usually the first one to leave the stage, but also the least dangerous of the original five animatronics. If he waits outside the door, it isn't for very long, although even if he is far from the office, he can travel there surprisingly quickly. Shutting the door on him wears him out quickly into leaving, as opposed to the persistent Chica.
One of his dirtiest tactics is to hide in the storage closet, and bound to the office at an incredible speed, catching Mike off-guard.
He is very unpredictable and possibly impatient as he twitches constantly on Night 3, indicating he might be getting frustrated. Bonnie is, in fact, possessed by the soul of one of the children killed by William Afton, which explains his temperamental and evil behavior.
Bonnie is often aggressive and doesn't like to socialize a lot. Bonnie is often known to get angry from the simplest things and even at his own allies sometimes. The best example of this is when Bonnie in UCN expressed his unhappiness since he had to share a space with Foxy. Bonnie is very loud and is a very big jokester as he likes to tell jokes and makes lots of puns. He sometimes makes jokes about him missing his face in his withered form and despite this he can sometimes says his jokes in a passive aggressive way. This is most likely due to the fact that Bonnie is very aggressive. Bonnie especially dislikes very small spaces so he could claustrophobic.

UCN[]
Bonnie appears in both his FNaF 1 and withered forms.
Bonnie shares Pirate's Cove with Foxy. Unlike the latter, when viewed by the camera, Bonnie will scream at the player (minor jumpscare) and briefly disable all their cameras. His jumpscare does not kill the player and therefore doesn't end the night.
In order to tell who's currently active in Pirate's Cove, the player must look at a little figurine which is on the office desk, which changes frequently. If the figurine is that of Bonnie, the player should avoid looking at Pirate's Cove in order not to get their cameras disabled, however, if it is Foxy's figurine, the player should regularly check the camera.
W.Bonnie will appear every now and then. Once Bonnie enters the room the player must put on the mask as fast as possible

Help Wanted[]
Bonnie features in Help Wanted as a character in the VR game The Freddy Fazbear Virtual Experience.
WARNING: As Bonnie is "dead" (The robot is destroyed and the soul is free) during the events of Help Wanted, this is NOT the real Bonnie. Like the game implies, FNaF VR is a game made by Fazbear Ent. in the timeline, so this is not the real Bonnie. Same can be said with FNAF AR
Bonnie functions the same as he does in fnaf 1. In the repair minigames the player must listen to Handunit and fix Bonnie. Should the player fail they will be met with a jumpscare. On Night 5 of the Fnaf 1 levels he will appear as Neon Bonnie which is essentially the hard mode version of Bonnie. In FNaF 2 on night 6 the DLC nights is the only time the withered's appear(besides Withered Foxy) and along with them is Withered Bonnie. Withered Bonnie functions the same way he did in the second game and the difficulty can be selected from easy to hard.
FNAF AR: Special Delivery[]
Bonnie is an animatronic that can attack the player. The player must locate him by detecting the static and listen to his movement and noises. When he charges at them, the player must shock him when he is visible. The player must also look away when he is in the "Haywire Mode", where he stands right in front of the player and twitches fitfully. It is also possible to obtain his plush suit and his CPU upon defeating him.

Trivia[]
- Withered Bonnie speaks with a Spanish accent.
- Bonnie was the second-to-last character programmed in the UCN roster at 98%.
- He is the only animatronic from the first game which isn't able to kill the player. This, of course, excludes the original Golden Freddy.
- He's also the only original animatronic not to be given a major jumpscare.
- Bonnie flashing his glowing endoskeleton eyes when agitated might be a reference to his camera poses in the original Five Nights at Freddy's, where most of them consist of him either glaring or staring at the player with increasing aggression.
- On Nights 1 to 3, Bonnie is more active than the other animatronics, but on Nights 4, 5, 6, and higher difficulty settings of Night 7, Chica becomes more active than him.
- In the trailer, Bonnie is showing running down the hallway. He was stripped of this ability in the final game, with Foxy instead being the only one who is seen running.
- In the trailer, Bonnie is shown to remove his mask, revealing his endoskeleton. However, this never happens in the game.
- According to Scott Cawthon, Bonnie is the animatronic he finds scariest, as he had several nightmares about him while developing the game.
- Bonnie was also Scott Cawthon's favorite animatronic. It seems to be the reason why Scott made Springtrap.
- Bonnie is the only animatronic without eyebrows. (Until Mangle in Five Nights at Freddy's 2).
- Bonnie makes an unusual Human-like groaning while approaching the Office. This also implies that the animatronics are haunted by the dead child victims of William Afton.
- On extremely rare occasions, after the Game Over screen, or when starting up the game, a full screen image of the eyeless Bonnie hallucinations sometimes appears. The image goes off when white pupils begin to appear.
- If one believes the theory that the child possessing Freddy Fazbear is a girl, then the child possessing Bonnie would be limited to being one the remaining two boys and one girl, meaning there is a 2/3 possibility that Bonnie is possessed by a male child rather than a female.
- Scott Cawthon has confirmed that Bonnie (the animatronic itself) is, in fact, male. Fans originally theorized that he was female, due to Bonnie being a feminine sounding name. Scott later disproved this with an online post.
- On Night 7, if the A.I. is set to 0/0/0/0, Bonnie will still move which proves that he is more active than the other characters. Chica also moves rarely.
- At the end of Night 6 of Five Nights at Freddy's 2, Withered Bonnie, along with the other withered animatronics, are kept for the first game restaurant.
- Bonnie is the only original animatronic not to have a Phantom Counterpart.
- Since the reveal of the final screen of the Lorekeeper ending in Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Simulator, that the child (based on the position of Bonnie's head in the Good Ending of FNaF 3) possessing Bonnie is named Jeremy.
- Bonnie was also Scott Cawthon's favorite animatronic. It seems to be the reason why Scott made Springtrap.
- Some fans think that Jeremy is a brother of Susie, child inside Chica, due of Bonnie's and Chica's similar game mechanics.
