Bob and Buck are the main antagonists of the DVloper video game The Twins.
Both were voiced by DVloper himself.
Biography[]
Bob and Buck are a pair of undead/supernatural criminals who act as thieves. Nothing is known of their past, but prior to the events of the game, they took over an abandoned prison and made it their home. They also came by a giant beetle they tamed and constructed an area underneath their prison to house it. The brothers now make a living stealing things and holding them in their prison hideout. They are also known to be murderous cannibals, as Bob has a mallet covered in blood (indicating he had already killed someone) and one game-over has them preparing to cook and eat the player.
Prior to the events of the game, the brothers stole three items from a museum; a painting of the Mona Lisa, a gold coin, and a diamond. The player is tasked with recovering the stolen items to earn a pardon for their own crimes of theft over the years. Infiltrating their hideout, the player has to go around and find the items while avoiding the brothers and their traps. If the player is caught by Bob or Buck, they will knock the player out, either with Bob's mallet or Buck's taser. If the player runs out of health before retrieving the items, they will be killed by the brothers, who will either cook and eat them or feed them to their pet beetle. If the player succeeds, they will return the items to the museum and be pardoned for their crimes.
Appearances[]
Both Bob and Buck are very hideous men, with brownish skin, pointed ears, long noses, enlarged foreheads, sunken eyes, and large stretched lips, making them resemble goblins. They wear very dirty clothes.
Bob wears a tan shirt and tan pants, along with brown boots. Bob is very fat, with his shirt leaving his belly displayed. Bob is even more hideous than his brother, with an odd-shaped head and more exaggerated facial features that make him look even less human than Buck. Bob is also completely bald and does not even appear to have eyebrows. He also has amber-colored eyes.
Buck looks more human than Bob, with a normal-shaped head and more realistic proportions, though he is still very ugly. Unlike Bob, Buck is skinny. He wears a green camouflage shirt that is ripped in places. He also wears blue jeans and green shoes. He has grey hair and blue eyes. He also appears to have a single eyebrow over his left eye.
Personalities[]
Both Bob and Buck are very evil men, as they not only act as thieves but also like to murder and cannibalize intruders. Buck is more sadistic, as he often laughs and taunts the player. He also acts abusive toward Bob, as in one ending, he gets angry and smacks Bob over the back of the head, blaming him for the player's escape, while another ending has him taser Bob and cause him to fall off the prison roof. Buck is also noticeably intelligent, as he will stay in an area to search longer than Bob and chooses to use a taser instead of a simple mallet. Buck is also the one who keeps the key to the sewer cage. Buck speaks in a more creepy and sinister voice than Bob and seems to be the brains of the duo, likely being the one who constructed the defenses around their prison.
Bob appears to be much more dimwitted than Buck, speaking in a deep, stupid-sounding voice, spending less time searching a spot, and being foolish enough to drink coffee after it has been turned a sickly green color (due to the player lacing it with rat poison). Bob is less sadistic than Buck and seems more interested in eating and drinking than hunting for the player, and always says "I'm so hungry", as he often complains about his hunger. Bob appears to highly enjoy coffee, as he often says he wants one and is the only one of the twins who will drink the coffee in the kitchen. Despite this, he is still a murderous cannibal and thief who shows no real remorse for his crimes, subverting the "smart jerk and nice moron" trope. Despite often being abused by Buck, Bob is not afraid to hit back, as demonstrated in one ending where he bashes Buck in the face for hitting him.
Trivia[]
- Granny and Grandpa appear as secondary antagonists in the "Guest mode", where they are portrayed as friends of the twins who are visiting when the player breaks in. However, DVloper stated on Twitter that The Twins is canonically in a different universe than the Granny and Slendrina games, meaning Guest mode is set in a different continuity from the main game, and Bob and Buck do not truly exist in the canon of the Granny and Slendrina games.
- Bob appears to be closer to Granny while Buck appears to be closer to Grandpa. This can be seen in the game overs of "Guest mode". In the cooking game-over, Grandpa stands by Buck while he prepares the fire while Granny stands by Bob as he kills the player. In the "Guest mode" exclusive plasma rifle game-over, Buck stands with Grandpa on the lower floor while Bob stands on the higher floor with Granny as she shoots and kills the player.
- Buck may be a war veteran or a former police officer by his camouflage shirt and usage of a taser.
- Bob's hunger is possible a joke about his overweight condition and how most fat people are stereotyped as big eaters and constantly hungry.
- Buck appears to be older than Bob due to his appearance and intelligence.
