History[]
Barry went from scally to full time gangster his scally years have seen him being compared to the early years of Emmerdale hardman Cain Dingle. However the current modern day soap character Barry is compared to is the Hollyoaks gangster, Warren Fox with many fans seeing similar traits between the two.
Barry can be considered as one of british soap opera's first "hardman" type character gibeing thats how Brookside and Channel 4 both described Barry as being the local Jack The Lad type and having a reputation as a hardman.
Barry always strived for the best and when he had his heart set in something pretty much no one could stand in his way. Well that's unless your name is Tommy McCardle, Sissler and the Finnegan brothers Callum and Alistair who have all took on Barry some having lost.
Barry's most evil acts include the murders of Sue and Danny which would by todays standards would likely not air on television without huge complaints.
Despite generally being an all round bad person Barry did have friends in both Terry Sullivan and Jimmy Corkhill although Barry often double crossed the pair if them. Barry's family also genuinely cared for him. Barry also had many romances during his years the latest being Jimmy's daughter, Lindsey Corkhill.
In the last episode of Brookside, Barry returned and helped the close murder the psychopathic drug deal Jack Michealson by lynching him from a window.
