Baron is the main antagonist of the 1980 full-length animated mystery comedy Peanuts film, Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown (And Don't Come Back!!).

He is a vile reclusive man who hates everybody, especially foreigners. When Charlie Brown and Linus where staying at the Chateau, he plans to do terrible things to them should they fail to leave.

He is voiced by Scott Beach.

Personality[]

He is shown to be aggressive, evil, mad, and very violent person as he shown to hate everyone, especially foreigners. He is describe to be a very violent man, as he leaves Charlie Brown and Linus in the rain without shelter and coldly plans to do terrible things to them if they fail to leave by morning, implying he plans to kill them to make sure they do make sure there won’t any visitors, as it says if he finds out anyone is in the chateau, he will put them in great danger. And he will have did it if the fire not broken out at the chateau. Since he mellows after they save his niece and all, and implying he redeemed himself after that.

Biography[]

When Charlie Brown, Linus, Peppermint Patty and Marcie leave for France, Charlie Brown creates a letter he received that was written in French. Marcie, who studied French, translates it and says it is an invitation from a young girl, Violette Honfleur, to stay at the Chateau du Mal Voisin (Bad Neighbour's Castle).

When they got to France, Snoopy rented a car for the group and they drove to the farm where Peppermint Patty and Marcie would live with Pierre. Pierre is a gracious host who appreciates Marcie trying to learn his native language, but Peppermint Patty thinks he must be clearly in love with her. Pierre then becomes concerned that Linus and Charlie Brown went to Chateau Malvoisin as it must be some kind of mistake since no one ever stayed at the chateau. When Marcie asks about it, Pierre says that the castle is owned by a baron, a loathsome recluse who hates everyone, especially foreigners. Knowing that they could be in great danger, Pierre makes a phone call trying to find Charlie Brown, but no one has seen him, and Pierre says he's afraid he can't help Linus or Charlie Brown.

When Charlie Brown and Linus arrive at the castle, a storm forces them to spend the night in an empty stable. The next morning, Charlie Brown and Linus discover that some unknown benefactor has prepared breakfast and warm blankets for them. That night, the Baron leaves the castle and goes to the pub, instructing Violette not to let Charlie Brown and Linus in, even though she protests that they must be hospitable like their family many years ago, but the Baron is adamant that the new Meanwhile, Charlie Brown and Linus take turns standing and watching to identify the mysterious benefactor. During Charlie Brown's watch, he falls asleep when one of the windows lights up, then Violette appears and prepares cutlery for the boy. When he goes back inside, Linus wakes up to his shift and is upset to see Charlie Brown dozing off. Linus then goes to the castle to figure it out. He eventually finds Violette, who says her invitation was a mistake. Violette explains that her grandmother told her a story about a wartime affair she had with Silas Brown, Charlie Brown's grandfather, who was an infantryman stationed in France during World War II. Corporal Brown helped the village and stayed at Chateau Mal Voisin.

Meanwhile, at the pub, Snoopy and Woodstock are playing foosball and overhear the Baron confiding in the bartender that he knows about Charlie Brown and Linus and has tolerated them long enough and plans to do terrible things to them if they don't leave by morning, thus implying that he plans to hurt or kill them, to make sure they are gone. The Baron returns home to Violette's surprise, and in his haste to get Linus out of the room, she accidentally knocks over a candle, causing a fire throughout the chateau. Linus takes Violette to a pair of casement windows, opens them, and yells at Charlie Brown for help. Charlie Brown wakes up and leaves to tell Snoopy, Woodstock. Peppermint Patty, Marcie and Pierre about what's going on. Pierre calls the fire department while Snoopy, Woodstock, Peppermint Patty and Marcie go with Charlie Brown into the burning castle to save Linus and Violette.

When Snoopy and Woodstock arrive at the chateau, it is engulfed in flames. Snoopy immediately heads to the shed and pulls out an old-fashioned fire hose, while Linus throws his blanket down to Charlie Brown, Peppermint Patty, Marcie, and Pierre, which they use to catch Violette as she jumps out the window. Snoopy comes with a barrel of water under Linus, who also jumps to safety and later barks out instructions to work the hose. While Snoopy is working with the hose, a fire engine arrives and the fireman use their hoses to put out the fire. Grateful that the group saved Violette and the castle, the Baron promises to never be inhospitable again and now hosts Linus and Charlie Brown inside the castle like a proper host, redeeming himself in the process.
