Arkham

Arkham is the main antagonist of Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening, he is human who became a demon after killing his wife, he wishes to have the power of the legendary demon known as Sparda that is father of Dante and Vergil.

History[]

Biography[]

Very little is revealed about his past; what is known is that he began to investigate on demonic magic and killed his own wife to become a demon what actually happened, which resulted in his revolting daughter Mary who changed her name for Lady, to have a strong hatred against him and the demons, and wanted to avenge the death of his mother, Arkham soon had decided that he wanted the power of Sparda and began to investigate the Temen-ni-gru.

Knowing Vergil[]

He soon met one of Sparda's sons, Vergil, and told him about the seven in the tower. Vergil stood waiting in his mansion, Arkham searched for the names of the seals, which were necessary to be blocked.

Plot[]

Soon he found all the names of the seal, he and Vergil find the way to the base of the Temen-ni-gru where they wait for Dante, then Arkham went to take care of his daughter and threw her out of the tower. Arkham later appeared as the clown known as Jester who soon met with Dante and began to provoke him though his taunts were mingled with advice to help hm overcoime the Temen-ni gru, which he eventually succeeded. Eventually, Dante managed to find the way to the tower after Vergil defeated him, Arkham told him that he already got half the amulet he neede, the two then found the way to the final door into which Arkham had unlocked shortly after Vergil reveals who never trusted Arkham and already knew that he would betray him and kill him.

After defeating Beowulf and acquiring the Haywire-Generator, Dante soon realized that he felt weaker, Jester later appeared so he could mock Dante again, after threating him, Jester informs Dante that the Temen-ni-gru is in fact a Human World and Demon World portal, he also explains that he is planning use the amulets to open the portal, which was in the basement of the tower, and Jester also explains to Dante that the Neo-Generator in his hand and the key to move forward, he warns that he will drain the souls of those who hold him in the excharge of power, after that Jester begins to laugh loudry mockingly and leaves the room.

Later, Dante, Vergil and Lady begin to fight within the Sacrificial Chamber, Arkham soon appears before all of them, as his alter-ego, Jester and begins to reveal their manipulators, while he stands between Jester and Arkham, he soon told Vergil that the motive for the ritual had not worked and that it was incomplete and pecunized of a blood of a mortal priesthood, since Sparda would sacrifice himself to seal Temen-ni-gru, and the blood flowing in Lady's veins was the necessary. Arkham soon completes the ritual, plus Vergil, Dante and Lady have literally cornered him. However, since the tower had been opened in a column and the trio began to rise and use it as an advantage. Arkham knocked them down, while the three climbed to the top of the Temen-ni-gru, Arkham reached the tower and gave the seals his names again and soon ascended to the World Demon, he then finds the ancient swold of Sparda who is the Forge Edge and soon claimed his power for him becoming very powerful.

Rise as false God and death[]

After picking up Sparda's powers, he soon fought Dante with each other, and Vergil appeared and participated in the fight, and by combining his powers the demons twins managerd to defeat Arkham by making him return to the world of humans while he was wounded and weak at the top of the Temen-ni-gru, he soon encountered Lady who confronted him, Arkham begam to beg for his life, however she soon killed him by shooting at him.   

Personality[]

Arkham[]

As Arkham, he is manipulative, cunning and obscure. He is simply a master manipulator who knows how to exactly play the others in his hands, so with Vergil he starts acting like a sycophant, but he planned to use it for his own benefits, he also insults his daughter, Lady leaving her infuriated, he later starts manipulating it later. He is also a sadistic sociopath who is obsessed with power and will do everything he can to obtain it, he it also narcissistic and hungry for greatness, he himself has a complex god. 

Jester[]

As Jester, Arkham has a more playful and mischievious personality, but still deceitful, he also liked to insult Dante and lie to people but after he revealed his true intentions and that he and Arkham were the same.

Powers and Ability[]

Arkham[]

As Arkham he seems to be quite harmless, more totally agile and flexible as he knocked down Lady in the Temen-ni-gru, and when he managed to deactivate even with two swords in the neck and a rocket laucher and then he suceeded in overthrowing the three.

Jester[]

Like his alter-ego, he has many magical abilities and can teleport whenever he wants what he uses to avoid Dante's attacks, and when Dante can not take it anymore, Arkham uses his ower to manipulate gravity by allowing him to walk through walls and he also has other abilities if Dante confronts him once more in a battle in the special edition of Devil May Cry 3, he can invoke ball of electric energy he can launch in three ways. He can summon a big ball with a face that is similar to a moon which also has some own abilities, he can spit a big bomb that is out of his mouth and generate hands off the ground that can grab the enemy he can create energy walls to difficult can make it to divert its energy sphere that self-destruct. 

Forge Edge[]

When he adquired the power of Sparda and became a great-blob, Arkham gained strength and ability to use his multiple limbs, he can also lauch tendril prejectiles that forces the target and can create legions and even slow creatures that resembles dolphins and have a mere resemblance to Sparda who attacks his enemies.

Trivia[]

  • His name Arkham was most likely inspired by the Batman comic book, which is the name of a psychiatrist's hospital that many of Batman's villains are imprisoned, and Jester who is his alter-ego appearance, personality and mannerism was based on the Joker who is the main arch-enemy of Batman.
  • Arkham is very similar to Deviot who is a villain who appears in Power Rangers Lost Galaxy which in the Power Rangers franchise. Both are the subaltherns of their masters, Vergil to Arkham, Trakeena and Scorpius to Deviot, and later they plotted to betray them to obtain the power, Deviot to the cocoon of Trakeena, and Arkham the ancient sword of Sparda, both also are traitourous sociopaths to the point to kill anyone who hinders them, both their in the end are their falls and begin to cherish for their lives, and both are Pure Evil.
