The Apex Mako, also known as the Apex Mako Shark, or the Apex Shortfin Mako Shark is a large shortfin mako shark that inhabits Golden Shores of Port Clovis in the 2020 shark video game, Maneater. It's the second and fastest of the seven Apex Predators in the game.
Characteristics[]
“ | Fast and aggressive, the Mako is known as "the Peregrine falcon of sharks". But, as the Peregrine is a land-based bird, this designation means nothing to the Mako. | „ |
~ Trip Westhaven, about the Mako Shark |
Measuring around 4 m (13 ft) long, the Apex Mako is considerably larger than regular mako sharks surrounding Port Clovis. It's five times more powerful than regular makos are level 10, four times more powerful than albino makos, and three times more powerful than hunted makos, making it the largest Mako shark in Port Clovis. The Apex Mako has dark blue skin color on top area and white all over its body. It has dozens of needle-sharp teeth and a golf ball on its left eye. As with all makos, the Apex Mako is exceptionally quick, fast, and agile, giving it the opportunity to catch prey at incredible speed. This makes the Apex Mako the fastest of all the Apex Predators and perhaps the fastest animal in Port Clovis.
History[]
“ | The fastest shark, makos are capable of speeds up to 46 mph-which isn't fast enough to not end up as bycatch in a commericial gillnet. | „ |

Life in Golden Shores[]
The Apex Mako grew up in the golfing paradise of Golden Shores, which is known for having a large golf course where people can relax and play rounds of golf while also drinking a lot. But people aren't the only ones who love a taste for golf.
The Apex Mako had grown used to having golf balls fall into the water and developed a taste for them. This must be why it has a golf ball on its left eye. It's likely the Mako had a fight with another sea creature or Mako, lost its left eye in the processes, found a golf ball, and used it as an artificial eye. However, it is possible that someone swung the golf ball into the water and it somehow hit the Apex Mako in the eye, or it was most likely that the golf ball was accidentally swung too hard and hit into the Mako's eye when it jumped out of the water catching its prey in the air.
Nevertheless, the Apex Mako stuck with a diet of King Mackerel and became the apex predator of Golden Shores, outcompeting Muskellunge, Barracuda, and even other Makos in the area.
Fight against the Female Bull Shark[]
As the Bull Shark, who is now an adult or still a teen, explores Golden Shores collecting collectibles and doing human population control, she dines in on the primary food source for the Apex Mako: King Mackerel. After consuming all the King Mackerel, the mission "Mako War, Not Love" will be unlocked and a cutscene will player featuring the mako swimming at a torpedo-like speed before freeze screen and eating a golf ball as Trip Westhaven says "The Sultan of Speed... The Mako!"
After the cutscene, the fight between the Bull Shark and the Apex Mako ensues. This fight is all about quick-acting and agility since (like the Apex Barracuda before it) the Apex Mako is extremely agile and fast. It will try to zoom fast, back and forth. The Bull Shark is able to match against the Apex Mako and before long, the Apex Mako is defeated and the Bull Shark is rewarded the Bone Fins Evolution.
