NOTE: "Agent" is not an official name and just a nickname made up by the community. Agent is the secondary antagonist of Season 3 of the Animator vs. Animation web series.
He is Victim's right hand man and leader of his mercenary team who assists him in his plans of getting revenge on the Animator. The most skilled of the group, Agent has access to a toolbar which holds several animation tools in it, making him a dangerous opponent.
Appearance[]
Agent is a tall and thin black stick figure with a white solid head and black sunglasses. He seems to come from Pivot Animator given his design and moves on a higher framerate than the other characters.
History[]
Wanted - Animator vs. Animation 9[]
Agent is introduced chasing after the Chosen One alongside the other mercenaries, endangering the citizens of the city they're in. Alongside his teammates, he is on a flying scooter that shoots out glitch-bombs that corrupt anything they touch. Eventually, the Chosen One gets the idea of distracting the four mercenaries while he goes to get the Second Coming to help. Once the other mercs are very briefly defeated, Agent chases after the Chosen One alone, where he manages to shoot him with several glitch-bombs, although his opponent manages to trap him in a giant iceberg and get away.
By the time we return to the mercenaries, Agent somehow found a way out of the iceberg and, alongside his teammates, rebegins his chase on ground. When they notice the Second Coming, Agent realizes he's working alongside his target and tries to kill him. When the Chosen One saves his friend, Agent fires three bullets, the final of which hits his target and shocks him, causing him to glitch out even more. The Second Coming defends himself with the pencil he brought, drawing giant animals to defeat his opponents. Once the mercenaries are about to kill the orange stick figure, Agent interrupts them. Having apparently been given a message that he's to be taken alive, he challenges the Second Coming to a one-on-one fight, using his animation program powers to create shields, lassos and swords to fight him. Eventually, he gets tired of fighting and literally pauses the Second Coming, preventing him from doing anything. Once the Chosen One tries to attack him, he does the same to him, sarcastically petting him on the head. The team then takes the two stick figures back with them.
Back in the base of the organization he's been working for, the Second Coming and the Chosen One are imprisoned and the former's pencil is taken away for experimentation. The mercenaries then go to their boss, Victim, to inform him the mission has been accomplished.
The Box - Animator vs. Animation 10[]
The Mercenaries and their boss go visit the Chosen One in his cage. Victim decides to toy with him, and has Agent control the box they're in via a computer. Agent assists Victim in the torture via increasing his speed, making him invisible, giving him weapons or cloning him, while shrinking the Chosen One's attacks or slowing them down tremendously.
Eventually, Victim decides to interrogate the Chosen One about the Animator before using a memory scanner once he doesn't reply. There, everyone finds out the Second Coming possesses superpowers he himself doesn't know about (thanks to having amnesia of the event) and that one of the Fighting Stick Figures, Yellow, found a way to bring the Animator into the Outernet. Victim puts up wanted signs for him, but he quickly finds out he and his three friends - Green, Blue and Red - have sneaked into his building. Agent confronts them and swiftly defeats them in battle, arresting Yellow and leaving Green, Blue and Red behind.
Personality[]
Agent is quiet, composed and skilled, focused on achieving the mission and quickly giving orders to his men. He possesses loyalty towards his boss, Victim, letting the Second Coming live seemingly because of his orders and then assisting him in torturing the Chosen One. He also has a sadistic and teasing side given how he made the Second Coming spin for a few seconds and patted the Chosen One on the head, not to mention holding back with the two and only using his Pause Tool when he's done toying with them.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Teamwork and leadership: Agent is the leader of the mercenary team who works perfectly with them.
- Agility: Agent is extremely fast, able to catch even the Second Coming by surprise.
- Strength: Agent is physically strong, able to send the Second Coming flying with one kick.
- Marskmanship: While his aim is far from perfect, Agent can easily operate a gun.
- Martial arts: Agent is an extremely skilled and fast martial artist that even the Second Coming doesn't stand a chance against.
- Swordsmanship: For a given value of "sword", Agent is perfectly able of fighting an actual swordsman with a thick line and overpower them.
Animation Tools[]
Agent has a toolbar containing animation tools that he can summon on both of his hands. In order, these are:
- Selection: Unknown use.
- Lasso: Simply spawns a lasso that Agent can use to draw enemies closer to him or throw them around.
- Free Transform: If a person or object is hit, they are trapped in a box that Agent can use to change their rotation (such as making the Second Coming spin for a few seconds). He can also change their size when they are inside the box, though he hasn't used this power on-screen yet.
- Line: Creates a line that Agent can use as a weapon. He can decide its length or thickness.
- Eraser: Unknown use.
- Rectangle: Creates a rectangle/square that serves as a shield for the leader.
- Zoom: When equipped onto one of his eyes, it zooms in on the target and makes Agent better at aiming.
- Pause: Completely pauses any target it hits, making them unable to move and completely helpless. It even works on elements, such as the Chosen One's fire. According to Alan Becker, it's reserved for special occasions when Agent is done toying with his enemies. The victim is not conscious and aware of their surroundings when paused, as their brain is paused too.
Additionally, the Selection, Lasso, Free Transform and Rectangle tools all have a little dot on their bottom right corner, implying there might be more ways to use them and/or that they have variations.
Trivia[]
- Like his three underlings, Agent has been purposefully left nameless so the fans could have fun making up nicknames; as a result, the wiki only calls him "Agent" because it's one of the most popular nicknames for him.
- He's been called Agent Smith by DJ Welch, a friend of series creator Alan Becker, though it's been clarified it's not his actual name.
- In a video on the Animators VS Games channel, Becker has acknowledged the name Agent and said he likes it.
- Alan Becker confirmed Agent is supposed to be seen as cool by the audience.
- According to Alan Becker, Agent would lose to the Dark Lord.
- Agent makes a quick cameo in the Actual Shorts episode "Corn Dog Guy", showing the events of "Wanted" through the perspective of an unlucky corn dog salesman.
- Unlike the other mercenaries, Agent seems to lack unique powers and is a normal stick figure outside of his toolbar. Given how the scientists at victim's organization were experimenting on various tools, it's possible he was granted his toolbar by Victim.
- This theory was seemingly confirmed later on when one of Victim's scientists has a toolbar just like Agent although with much less tools. This additionally implies Agent is not a mere hired gun despite the group he's part of, but actually a full-fledged employee at the organization.
- Agent took 12th place on the 2024 popularity poll, gaining 469 votes.
