Aeron was the youngest surviving son of Lord Quellon Greyjoy. Aeron spent much of his time drinking and was loved by his nephew Theon who considered him his favorite uncle. During the Greyjoy Rebellion, led by Aeron's brother Balon to revive the old way (a life of reaving and plundering), Aeron joined his other brothers Victarion and Euron in raiding the coasts. After he was almost lost at sea Aeron had a spiritual reawakening and dedicated himself to the drowned god.When he was younger Aaron tired to shield his brother Urigon from Euron's sexual abuse.He is also guilt-ridden over Urigon's death as he died from sound inflicted when he and Aeron performed a finger dance together.When Theon came to negotiate with his father to help Robb Stark in his war efforts against the lannisters.He once again met his uncle.Theon Was disappointed that his uncle had lost his party boy attitude but Aeron blessed him with saltwater none the less.When Theon imprisoned Benfred Tallhart Aeron ordered his nephew to drown him to which he reluctantly complied.Aeron voiced opposition to Balon's plan to have his daughter Asha succeed him as Lord of the iron islands.
