The Abominable Snow Monster of the North is the main antagonist turned anti-hero of the 1964 Rankin/Bass Christmas special, Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer. He is a giant yeti living in the North Pole, and is described by Sam the Snowman as mean, nasty, and hating everything to do with Christmas. Whether his hatred of Christmas is actually true is unknown. Yukon Cornelius refers to the Snow Monster as Bumble. The Snow Monster's only known weakness is that he cannot swim and if he gets into the water he will sink.

When Rudolph was growing up, he was warned about the Abominable Snow Monster and how ferocious he was and how he hated everything about Christmas. The Snow Monster was indeed dangerous and was humongous, eqipped with razer-sharp teeth. When Rudolph was growing up, he was bullied by everyone else because he had a glowing red nose, so he left home with an elf named Hermey who also didn't fit in. Unknown to them, while they were away, the were stalked by the Abominable Snow Monster, who waited for his chance to strike. The duo also came across Yukon Cornelius, who also knew of the Snow Monster. The yeti finally did attack them and was further enraged by the sight of Rudolph's nose. He chased them to the sea where they floated away on an iceberg, knowing the Snow Monster couldn't swim. The yeti dipped his foot into the water and fell in, but was able to climb back out onto land.
Rudolph became an adult but was still teased for his nose, and then he found out his parents and love-interest Clarice had gone looking for him and had been captured by the Snow Monster. He went out to rescue them and found the Bumble's cave, where he was about to eat Clarice. Rudolph challenged the Snow Monster to a fight, and the yeti tried to grab him and fell over. Rudolph took the chance to attack, but the yeti got up and grabbed a stalactite and smashed it on Rudolph, knocking him unconscious. The Bumble watched as Clarice and Rudolph's parents went to check if Rudolph was okay and was lured outside by Hermey and was knocked out by Yukon. The Bumble's teeth were removed by Hermey and he was no longer a threat. Yukon and Hermey rescued Rudolph and the others, but the yeti was blocking the exit. Since the Bumble had no teeth, Yukon wasn't afraid and attacked the Bumble head on, aided by his dogs. The Bumble was backed up against a cliff and was tackled by Yukon and the dogs and they fell off the cliff. The Bumble had the ability to bounce however, and they all survived and the Bumble decided to be good and came to Christmastown looking for a job, and placed a star on the Christmas tree.
