"Crime Wave" Clyde is the tertiary antagonist of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 episode "Crimes R Us". He is an infamous and aggressive human criminal which King Koopa hires to teach his children how to be hardcore criminals.
He is voiced by the late Dan Hennessey, who also voices Bully Koopa in the same cartoons and Beastur in the 1980's animated My Pet Monster TV series.
Prior to his imprisonment, Clyde is one of the most infamous criminals on Earth, becoming Public Enemy #1 and gaining the nickname "Crime Wave" Clyde due to his reputation. Although the reason why Clyde was such a notorious criminal is unknown, it is implied that he was a pickpocket, bank robber and mugger. He gets arrested by the police and sentenced to 12,423 years in prison with no parole for his crime.

After King Koopa and the Koopalings travels to the real world, Clyde is seen playing basketball and gets taunted by a smaller inmate. He crushes a smaller inmate into a ball by tossing him in the net, asking if anyone else thinks that they can beat him at basketball. As King Koopa arrives to attack the prison with his Doomship, he sends Bully to descend on a ladder and help Clyde escape from his prison. Upon being brought into the Doomship, Clyde demands to know what King Koopa what he wants with him. After being taken to Castle Koopa, King Koopa tells Clyde that he wants him to give his children all the advantages he never had, but then Clyde agrees to teach his children how to be hardcore criminals.
Later, Clyde gives the Koopalings lesson one is robbing the bank robbery, however, due they get foiled by the Mario Bros.. Back at Castle Koopa, Clyde gives the Koopalings lesson two is getting rid of the Mario Bros., so Cheatsy steals the lunch money from a Mushroom boy by tricking him into directing Mario and Luigi to a warp-pipe that leads to an underground prison where Clyde and Big Mouth locks them up with a Boom Boom inside.
While the Mario Bros finding a way out of their trap, Clyde finishes teaching the Koopalings about crime and unleashes them on the Mushroom Village, however, the Koopalings begin to steal from themselves and from him too. As Clyde prepares to leave, King Koopa announces their grand final crime is stealing a billion gold coins from the Mushroom Treasury. As Clyde and the Koopalings prepare their final crime, Kooky chains a Bob-omb to Clyde's leg while Cheatsy and Kootie Pie explains that they decides to betray him. With this notion, a panicking Clyde jumps into a lake by putting the Bob-omb out.
In the Mario Bros.'s, Clyde breaks down the door and offers to help them defeat King Koopa and his children if they take him back to the real world. While the Koopaings are robbing the Treasury, Clyde and the Mario Bros. ambushes them by tying them up and sending them up to the Doomship with a Bob-omb, blowing it up and forcing King Koopa to retreat. Later, the Mario Bros. return Clyde to his prison in the real world. When Luigi states that he's never seen someone so happy to return to his prison, Clyde states that his sentence is better than one more day with the Koopas.
